The client is seeking a Vice President and Executive Director to lead its Electrochemical Safety Research Institute. In this senior executive role, you will guide the evolution of the institute’s research program, drive the growth of its laboratory infrastructure, and expand education and outreach initiatives aimed at achieving global impact. You will also provide strategic leadership to advance the institute’s mission to support the design and deployment of safer energy storage and energy generation devices and the ecosystems they enable. Responsibilities include overseeing in-house scientific research and collaboration to produce scientific insights relied upon by policymakers, manufacturers, standards development and testing organizations, and consumers for informed technology decisions. The role will support efforts such as defining safe conditions for deployment across different battery chemistries and innovating in materials, components, and assemblies intended to reduce inherent safety risks. With an expanding emphasis on infrastructure development—including planned construction of additional laboratory and abuse-testing capabilities—the position will cultivate and strengthen a community of researchers to grow and excel. The client will combine internal investment with an expanded sponsored research portfolio to build partnerships across government, academia, and industry while maintaining the independence and objectivity expected of the institute. You will help set and execute a growth strategy, identify research opportunities addressing emerging needs, and develop unbiased scientific knowledge to advance safer technologies. The role also includes building and leveraging relationships with relevant government agencies and academic institutions to drive meaningful partnerships and research advancements, contributing to the institute’s position as a leading safety science research organization.
